I haven't owned a decent Slipjoint for 20 years so I think its about time to invest in one again. I am fond of the way Sodbusters look but there are many manufacturers of these knives including Case, Boker, Queen (Country Cousin) and German Eye. Which one would you pick and why? If there are any manufacturers that I am missing in this line-up feel free to suggest others.....

Case is the easiest to find I believe. You can find the SS Black jr. at lowes for around $18.00. Awesome pocket knife. But there are SO many... You wil get a bunch of answers on this one. Have fun with it and Happy New Year!!!:D

I have a Queen, Eye Brand and a Case Soddie. All are nice but the Case has the best finish(blade) and Queen a stronger back spring and it's D2 steel took a great edge. The Eye Brand is not as well finished but all are good. Babakanoosh the stag soddie looks beautiful!

Case comes in CV steel.
Queen comes in D2.

The CV is way easier to sharpen and takes a finer edge.
The D2 will hold its edge longer.

what ever mark you choose, look long and hard at the stockmans. cant go wrong with a stockman or sowbelly. 4 blade congress is a bit much too me but im an old nasty fart and one sided at that...

I have 3 case sodbusters a SS Jr, a CV Jr, and a full size in SS. They all came very sharp out of the box, and they have all been pretty easy to resharpen. The only F&F issue I have was the corners of the blade of the full size were very rough, but that was an easy fix with a ceramic sharpening rod.

I won't talk about companies specifically but try and handle your before buying if possible, as I have had more problems with new slippies in quality than one hand openers or fixed blades.
