advice on an EDC folder

I'm looking for an EDC that is nice and slim -- I want to be able to take the clip off and have it sort of disappear into my pocket with minimal bulge. I also need it to be just under 3".
I love my Spyd Manix -- it's a tank! I take it to work, hiking, etc.
But I need a much more discreet (thin, light) folder.
The CR Small Sebenza seems like it would be PERFECT but... is there a less expensive option that still meets my criteria?

I'm thinking since you like Spyderco to stick with Spyderco. You might like the Caly3 -- it's like a tiny Manix. Not as beefy but it has the same kind of feel. Clipped or unclipped it is very unobtrusive.

Out of all the 3" EDC folders that I've tried, the two that ride in my pocket unclipped and feel the most comfortable are my small regular Sebbie and a CF Caly 3. I don't remove the clips on my knives, but I don't use them either. I can imagine that w/o a clip, either of these would almost disappear in your pocket.

Tiny Kershaw 1460 Splinter - Quince wood handle.
Razor sharp AUS8A 3" blade, 4" closed. Removable clip.
2.3 oz., so light you don't realize it's in your pocket.
You can still find these for $50. on the bay.
I think these were replaced with the Nakamura line.

Ditto the Leek. Very thin and smooth. Would disappear in your pocket. And its not too spendy.

Benchmade 530 is surprisingly flat and disappears in the pocket. But the blade is 3.25". The Delica is another possibility.

Wow,I love this place.
Thanks all -- GREAT suggestions!
I especially like TrimCut's two options. They are both just under 3" and I love the look on both.
I can't find the search option on this site (there used to be...) but can anyone give me any links to discussions about both or either of these knives (the Alias II and the 707?

I got a framelock LeeK. it is vereynice & thin but a little slippery.
I don't think I would like it w/o the clip.
When I remove the clip the assisted opening is rough and almost non-functional.
It seems that as you grip the knife your fingers are putting pressure against framelock and the blade, adversely affecting the assisted opening. I don't think that would be a problem with the liner locks.
For me it is not a problem because I use the clip.

Also, I get the impression that the liner lock LeeKs are a little thicker than the frame locks. Maybe someone who has both can address this.

Otherwise I love the LeeK.

I am keeping a list of my next potential purchases.

Tops on the list are:

Benchmade Pardue 530.

Al Mar Falcon lightweight.

From what I have found from other posts is that the Pardue has some flex in the handle.

I haven't/can't find much on the Al Mar, but I really like how it looks.

Great knife for the price, lightweight because of the g10 handles, s30v holds its edge well.

Thanks Antihero, you just reminded me that i have one of those in my pocket right now;):D
But you should check out the leek Old Painless, it has a nice thin blade that holds an edge, and also the entire knife has a very thin profile. There are also a large variety of leeks to chose from. Good luck deciding and let us know what you pick!

I think the Leek is just about perfect for what you wrote. The other knife that comes to mind is the discontinued CRKT S-2. The med. model has a 2 7/8" ATS-34 blade & it has a titanium frame-lock. You can still find them out there for about $50-60+. Their Ti is thinner than that of the Seb, Bradley, B/M, etc., but they're also less expensive (By quite a bit).

I'd definetly either go with the BM530 Pardue or the Kershaw Leek. They are going to be the best choices for what you are looking for and both are under $80. I love my 530. I carry it everyday and half the time I forget its in my pocket.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but the Caly III is the tops! I carry one for work (business environment) and it's invisible in the pocket.
