Advice on anvil stump

I finally bought myself an anvil. Went with a Atlas Tools 116lbs Graham.
I bought some treated 4x6’s to make a stump. Had to cut em in half to fit in my car.
Anyways, best I can tell I need a 35” face height. So should I pour a footing for a 26” stump. Or burry the other 22ish inches and pour around it.
‘thanks in advance
Chris

I would set it on the ground, carve out some of the bottom so it sits flat, and only touches on the edges so that it won't rock (if you have a hard shop floor). If your floor is dirt or sand it should be easy enough to level. This will also allow you to move the anvil in the future if need be

With the mass of the anvil and "stump" you probably don't need a footing. However, pouring a 4'X4' pad about 4" thick would be as good idea for the forging area.

I’m setting it up just outside the shop on the dirt.
if I clear out a bush I can probably get a 4x4 area

If you're willing to replace the 4x6s at some point, because you are doing this outside, if it were me, I'd bury the extra 22" in a hole with crushed rock and sand filling the hole so that it will drain and dry in the summer. I wouldn't bother with any concrete.
