Advice on digital cameras?

I'm getting close to getting a digital camera. I want one that will take the usual family type snapshots but it has to be able to take close ups of the knifes. Which is the best and cheapest for getting these two jobs done? Any experts out there who can offer advice? If so, please do with much thanks.

I used a Casio digital camera for the pictures of the khukuri's. I'll get the model number.

It is an outdata design and qualitiy very lighting sensitive. There are many better models out there.

It is cheap now.

Now days, a couple hundred bucks will buy you a digital camera that is good enough to provide good resolution for internet use. At that price level, there is not much product differentiation. My personal opinion is that the really expensive cameras take pictures better suited for print, and come with extra features.
