Hello again. A few months back, I was in Iraq and asked your advice on an EDC. You recommended (and I bought) a Benchmade 550 with 154CM steel. Great knife and it served me well. Unfortunately, during my redeployment that knife (along with a SureFire flashlight and some other bits of kit) was stolen from my luggage somewhere between El Paso and Baltimore (damned TSA rules about unlocked bags).

So, I’m in the market for a replacement, of sorts. I really liked the 550 – size, blade shape, and locking mechanism were perfect. Still, the handle profile was a bit thick. So I’m looking for something a lot like the 550 with a bit thinner profile. Maybe a smoother handle material.

Thanks for sharing your insights.

A Wenger Patriot will serve you well as an EDC. It is so thin you will not notice it in your pocket until needed! It is even thinner than the Mercater Black Kat..!!!
