A couple months ago I posted here looking for advice on a knife that would hold its edge for hunting and not need sharpening in the field.
I had originally been asking about a folding knife.

Well following some of the advice I received I purchased the Spyderco "Bill Moran" model in VG10. It is not a folding knife.

Well last week I completely field cleaned and deboned my elk and half of my friends using this knife and the knife will still shave hair off my arm. I haven't touched the blade at all. SUCCESS!

Just wanted to thank the folks who helped out by giving advice.

Congratulations on the successful hunt! Also on finding the right knife for the job.

Deboned half of your freinds...remind never to go hunting with you...;)

those are good Knives...

I've had similar results with mine. I have em in both blade styles & the upswept blade is a great skinner. Very secure in the hand too. Now that you know what VG10 performs like, you may find a need for some of the other Spyderco fixed blades or folders. They all perform beyond most expectations. The new models with the CPMS30V steel keep an edge even longer!

Glad you like the knife. When it finally DOES need a little touch up, the Sharpmaker by Spyderco will make that a breeze. The Moran is already properly beveled so that you will only have to touch up the "micro-bevel" edge. But then you'll probably sharpen everything else in the house too :)
