Hi guys,

We're in the process of planning our second US road trip this fall. We arrive in NJ on 12 Oct and depart from FL on 26 Oct. 💕🇺🇸

So far, the plan is to take the following route: NJ > NY > MD > DE > VA > NC > SC > GA > FL.

Are there any places in the given states that you would recommend visiting with regard to our common hobby here? Knifemakers I'm not aware of? Stores you'd recommend? Museums?

Apart from that, are there any sights that we should see (a teenager and a preschooler in tow)? So far, we've planned to see NYC, Kaaterskill Falls, whales at Camp May, a part of the Apalachian Trail, the Historic Triangle, the Outer Banks, the seaturtle resort on Jekyll Island, Cape Canaveral, and finally Miami.

Any input would be much appreciated! 🤓👍

Instead of NJ, can you start in PA, like Pittsburgh ? There is lots of traditional/historic knife stuff in PA: Titusville, Tidioute, etc. And Pittsburgh is not a bad place to hang out for a day or two, much more interesting than NJ :)

I see you like Busse ? How about CPK ? They are in Mooresville, NC. If you not only want to meet a phenomenal knife maker but some cutting champions, too.

That's exactly the kind of information I was looking for! Do you happen to know whether CPK have some kind of store or can I meet the guys for a shop tour or something?

Have to second SMKW in TN. I've only seen video tours but it looks like it would be a mind and wallet bending experience.
I surely love their YT channel and would definitely like to visit. Alas, I probably can't justify the detour as we only have twelve days of travel with lots to see and I'm the only knife nut in the family (yet. Junior has his first pocket knife now and, for some inexplicable reason, is happy with having just one). Will check again with Maps, though, whether it's feasible to integrate this into the tour.

It depends on which route you take but you won't be far away. Definitely worth the trip.

No, it's a small shop. You need to send them (Nate and Jo) an email or private message - they have their own sub-forum here. I think they might have a party planned in Oct, don't remember right, maybe you can time it right.

We have Randall Knives in Orlando, FL. They have the factory and a small museum. Great bunch of people there.
That's a great idea, of course!
Randall in Orlando, Florida, it's even stamped on their blades. I just didn't put two and two together.
