I'm looking for a solid fun edc. I have been playing with my delica 4 most of the time along with pro tech tr4, I'm giving the delica to my father along with some ka bars, he'll be visiting into the states Friday. So no more delica to flick around on the couch.

$ 50 to $ 250 is my price range, I was thinking flipper, or axis lock or linear lock,
I like the southard, seem to be sold out, or prices way to high.

Mini griptian looks Kool

Spyderco manix 2 like the lock

Paramilitary lots of great reviews

Zt I like but un sure

I want this to be my main edc, not to small or to big, comfortable, reliable , fun,
I'll probable make a decision by Sunday evening, if there's any knives I have over looked please suggest them. Or share your experience with the knives I have listed.
Thanks for your time.

All of your choices are excellent. But if I were you, I'd wait until a Southard comes along at a price I could afford and jump on it. This video will give you an idea of why I like it so much:

Yeh, I have been really looking hard at the southard, seems to be the perfect edc.

Today I have a Paramilitary 2 and a CRKT Swindle. Both are really fun to play with. I wouldn't suggest a Swindle for a main EDC though. The ZT 550 is fun to play with and not too big

Love my new Swindle too! I edc it, mostly to play with it between cutting things. Soooo smooth.

I just came from EDC'ing a bunch of CRKT, mini grip, and have tried the Kershaws (Leek, Chill, Cryo).

Besides a Rat2 and a Skyline I would stick with Spyderco stuff. I am a recent convert as in like today..after going on a 6 hour hike, having tried the Endura, Tenacious and UKPK. The blade shapes of the Spydercos, fit and finish, factory edge and comfortable grip, light weight are really hard to beat in an EDC). I'm now searching for a Ti version myself. The mini grip is awesome in many ways, but its also very ho hum what I disliked most about the mini is at the base of the blade there was a steep notch in the blade profile whenever cutting rope the material would snag on that little notch and I would have to reposition the knife. It would drive me nuts in the garden whenever I was putting up string to hold up plants.

I agree. Be patient, keep your eye on the Exchange, and you'll be able to do better than that.

Benchmade 707, far better than a standard MiniGrip in my opinion.
Spyderco Sage II, Nearly perfect in every way.
CRK Small Sebenza, out of your price range but it really is the perfect knife.
Or wait for a Spyderco Domino, It looks amazing, can't wait for that one.

I just got an M4 Mini-Grip as a deal exclusive for just about $110 shipped and I've been EDCing it since I got it and it is a great knife with a great steel and BM really got the HT on this right! Accidentally dropped it and it fell down some concrete stairs (whoops) and the only damage it had was a small chip on the belly. At first I thought the tip was ruined too but it was just concrete on the end which wiped right off. About 5 minutes on the Sharpmaker diamond rods and the chip was gone. Dang good steel and at a great price too. Not sure if the dealer still has them but I would definitely check it out!

Thank you for your replies. Still looking, I'm going to make a decision today , either buy something or if I have to wait to find a southard .

I also purchased a Mini-Grip in M4 and it's a terrific little knife. The M4 Mini-Grip is a GPKnives exclusive and GPKnives is an Authorized BF Reseller, so my understanding is that it's OK to link to them. If I'm wrong, I'd ask the Mods to please remove the following link:

So here's the question. Is a Southard worth two M4 Mini-Grips? Personally I'd have to say no if for no other reason than the M4 Mini-Grip is a limited production run. Once they're gone, there's no guarantee they'll ever be made again. The Southard, on the other hand, is a production model and should come around again.

I'd suggest you buy the M4 Mini-Grip now, bank what's left over, save up your money for the next run of Southards, and end up owning both knives at some point in time. :)

PS: Moxy's recommendations are also pretty much spot on. The Sequel, Sage II and Small Sebenza are all terrific knives. But you'll have to pardon the alliteration. ;)
