Anyone have any first-hand info on Roughneck axes? Quality? Dangedest thing happened today (yesterday........what day is it?......) one (and a couple friends) followed me home.....like lost puppies. Well, I had no choice but to take them in, it's cold outside. Yes, I know, pics.....I'm working on it (gotta, gotta, gotta learn how). Sorry, ADD kicked in, quality, yeah quality, anybody know anything?

They are just an axe shaped object. Other opinions may be better than mine.
LOL
NSS, G3, I got that much info when I found it.
I was leaning more toward 'is-it-worth-rehafting?' not 'do-you-like-England?'
I have read some of your other posts, Garry, and sometimes you come across a little less than helpful. You have good info and a seeming working intelect most of the time, but seem somewhat jaded or bitter other times.
I know we all have opinions and we all know opinions are like diapers: some fresh and clean while others are......well, not.
Be helpful and play nice, I just want to learn what I can and pass along what I know.

Sorry Dark wolf, didn't mean to come across like that. I meant know harm.
And you are right I could use some tact some times for sure.
Your point is well taken and I will try to improve:o.

Looks very similar to some other cheap import axes I've seen. I would be very suspect of the steel.

They are just an axe shaped object.

An accurate description.

Agreed.

Dark Wolf you asked for opinions, and you got it. Keep the jerk it sign elsewhere please. That's actually a forum rule.

Are all the Roughnecks hung with fiberglass handles? If so, why would you want to start with one of these, just get a different axe. Plus, if you're going to re-hang an axe, why not start with the best head you can find? Go to that popular auction site, or estate sales and find something vintage. Even if you don't know what steel a vitage axe is made from, it's probably better than most are today.
Seems to me that blade makers like to "boast" about their product's attributes. As in listing the steel type, not just stating an obvious fact like it's a steel alloy. The Roughneck I looked at was something like $24, I just wouldn't expect much for that price, unless we're talking about a used vintage axe or head from a yard sale or something.

It's an older axe on a wood haft, got her for $3.
Sorry for the little green guy, he's gone. I didn't mean to offend anyone.
I do thank you all for your help and I'll try to be less defensive over my yardsale finds. She'll be a beater anyway, something to do the dirty root busting work to save my better axes from.

I would cut Dark Wolf some slack, I did come across wrong and should have expanded.
It is a less than perfect way to communicate. And he made some valid points.
And he did not offend me.
Any way, it seems that no one here is a sales rep for Rough Neck;).

Ok, first: thank you all for the input. Second: I was having a bad day. Third: yep, a beater. She's kinda hard, but not like my Kelly or Collins. I do think she's $3 worth of insurance for my better axes.
