Advice on scales

I am alittle unsure of what needs to happen here and I don't want to screw up my scales. Would yall try and thin the scales down alittle more or do they just need more shaping? They are going to get more shaping anyway but I am not sure if the thickness is good or not they just look kinda bulky on the blade?

They don't seem too thick to my eyes. I'd jump in on the shaping

I second that motion. Once you start putting more contours to the handle it will probably appear thinner. It looks plenty thin enough to me.

It is not too thick as I see it. Go for it...you can always thin it down if it is too thick. I purposely start with extra thick scales...thicker than what you have, and just keep grinding it off until it is what I want. Are you going to use a liner?

Hadn't considered it and prob not I don't have anything on hand anyway.

Nice clean design. You did the hard part, now just ease the edge of the scales.

Whether you use a spacer . . or not. Spend plenty of time making sure that the right and left scales have equal lengths and are virtual mirrors of each other. At that point, you can pin and bond them into place. After patiently waiting for the bonding agent to dry, resort to hand sanding. Wrap the blade in painting tape, clamp the blade in a vise, and then use strips of sandpaper to round the top, bottom, and sides of the handle. Blend all sides evenly. Step away from the work for an evening or two, think about your next step, and the proceed cautiously and slowly.

In the end, you will have a very impressive knife. Jut take your time an finish it slowly and properly.

Updating this thread, I have been working on the knife off and on and am nearing getting it completed I still have some finishing touches to do on the sheath. I realize it's not perfect but for my second blade I am pretty happy with it. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures I will get better quality pictures when I get it completed.
