Advice on Small Problem?

I made a little trade with a fellow Forumite just before the Christmas season. My last email indicates that I actually sent my trade items around December 12, 2004. Last email I received also indicated that said Forumite had received the items (email was dated 1/12/05),

With the all the problems and confusion surrounding the death of a loved one, I haven't been really keeping track of what I was supposed to receive. The last email assures me that he isn't trying to rip me off, and that he is having various and sundry problems, but he has sent the item.

Now, the item is coming from Canada, and though I haven't had many problems with the North Country, I am just getting a little concerned.

I don't want to rip this guy, and I think that giving the shipment until the end of this month seems fair.

So, now that I've vented, any comments?

Rene, when did he ship the items? If it was over or around Christmas that might explain the delay.
We were supposed to have received a check a few days ago and it isn't here yet. Seeing as how it's coming from a huge company Barb is calling about it tomorrow.

Yvsa,

Actually, he never said when. A previous email indicated that he had a tracking number or something of that nature. However, subsequent emails to him (his computer is on the fritz, so he uses a friends email address) have gone unanswered.

I still have a number of days until January 31st, so maybe it will all turn out good :D I know that he is happy with my trade items. But, the trade was for an HI product, so my HIKV is somewhat rapant!!

I'm having trouble shipping things TO Canada. The Canuks are apparently hosing down my packages with Acetone. (I'm only half kidding, some petrified wood I sent arrived with an observation of an acetone smell. It took THREE weeks to get there.) I recieved a package from Canada in about a week, so the slow stuff should be going in, not out, but it's probably not lightening fast out either.

As for your problem, there is no regular connected to the HI forum I'm aware of who isn't a good guy, and would risk ruining their reputation.

I'll bet there's just some trouble- personal trouble, shipping trouble- trouble trouble.

munk,

I don't really think it is much ado, either. However, I did another trade with another Canadian Forumite in which I sent a Rob Criswell Katana (this at approximately the same time, just before Christmas), and received my YCS and UBE in trade in about a two week span. He got the Katana with no problems, and I certainly didn't have any.

I know about troubles, so I am willing to give him the benefit. I just wish he would answer his emails and give me some assurance.

Let us know if it doesn't work out, or more importantly, when it does.

All packages going into the US now have to pass through a central processing facility in Utah. This may be the reason for the delay.

HAH !!!!

THAT'S IT !!!

Those damned Utahites (er Utahions) (Utahafarians?) (Utahonions?) (Utstashers?)...
are at it again !!! They've been instigating for a war with Canada for decades and are trying to foment an invasion to annex territory !!! Utah has had it's eye on New Brunswick and its women. Resist forment ! Resist Foment!

I knew. The portents in the sky foretold such events.

Well, I still haven't received my HI item in trade, and no delivery today. While I know Monday is the 31st, I decided that I am not going to use the Cantina to put pressure on this Forumite.

However, if any one is interested, I did reply to his original post in the Trade Forums. It's the one offering the 21 inch Chitlangi, and I mention the items that I traded in my reply.

I also have decided that I'm going to wait until the end of next week before I post any disatisfaction on the Good, Bad, and Ugly Forum, just to see if anything breaks loose.

Wish me luck - though I should have known that it was just too good a trade in my favor!

Rene, was that a 21" Chitlangi or a 21" Chainpuri?
I see a 21" Chainpuri for trade on 12-12-04.

If I were you I would go ahead and name names. Then at least the forumite would have a chance to answer, or maybe the GB&U Forum would be the best.
If it's who I think it may be he isn't a real regular in here to the best of my knowledge.
Sure sorry to hear you haven't gotten your trade though! :grumpy: :(

Yes, if this person has defrauded you we want to know.

If he's having a hard time and for some reason he's not delivered that's a different story.

Here's hoping it works out for both of you. Let us know either way.

I'm sitting here waiting for a couple shipments of gun parts. One shipment of which has been billed to my credit card but only for two out of 5 items. The other is awaiting a new run from the maker which was expected this past week But has still not been billed, and they say they won't bill til it's shipped. And this is inside the continental US.

I'm of two minds:

one wants to extend them the courtesy of allowing for good intentions and inability to do something while waiting for someone else to fill their backorder;

the other one wants to be properly brain tanning their scrotums and right now.

OOPs, made a mistake in the date of the Trade Forums Posting

Yvsa,

No, it's listed in the Trade Forums as HI 21 Inch Chitlangi and date originally for 11/19/2004. You are right, he isn't a regular, though he was very active for a while.

As I orignally stated, he has mentioned computer problems, so I guess the next thing is to write him. A quick check shows that he hasn't been on Bladeforums in general for a while.

But, as with Rusty, I am of two minds:

As I get older, the falling through and non delivery of merchandise doesn't really bother me as much as I thought. Everyone is young once and everyone makes mistakes.

However, I think that I will be doing other people in the Cantina, the Bladeforums, and the economic web in general a disservice if I let this one get away with stealing. Others are not so blessed with my ability to absorb the loss.

So, at least for now, I am compromising by inviting anyone interested to check out the post on Trade Forums about the WTT HI 21 inch Chitlangi . And at the end of next week, if this doesn't get resolved, I make further comments at the GBU Forum.

Rene I couldn't find the post on 11-19-04 but you put 11-19-03. Surely it hasn't been that long.

Anyway I trust your judgement and I say you're a better man than I because I don't think I would be as generous as you are being.
Please let us know how it goes either way though if you will please.
If it's only posting a link to the GB&U Forum when and if you post it.
I wish you luck in getting it resolved in a good way.

This happened before Christmas and this is now the end of January. I'm thinking it's time to go to the mods for any help they might give, and publish his name.

You are obviously one of the good guys, DD.

I'd thought I'd ring in on this one.

Rene, receiving packages from the states takes a long time for me. I have no doubt that the fine folks at Canada customs knows exactly who I am and have taken the liberty of examing each and every package I get from the US.

However, sending packages to the States seems to be a relatively quick process. Using airmail standard, it usually takes around 10 - 15 business days. On avg it's been more like 8 business days.

I send out packages alot so I suggest you follow up with this fellow. either the US version of customs is holding on to it, the package got stolen or misplaced, or...

well let's not think about the or.

Finally got a tracking number for my package from Canada. However, the descriptions shows that it was mailed on January 28th, 2005 and was at Halifax, Nova Scotia on January 29th, 2005. Better late than never, and I think that my publishing of the problem helped bust the stuff loose. :D

Thanks to Steve and Greg for their efforts in finding another email.

Crossed fingers and a more positive attitude.

Great Rene! Glad you are finally getting what was rightfully yours!!!! :D
