i need a tough folder for hard use...@4 inch, tuff point...tuff lock...tuff steel

did i say tough? :D

i'm left handed so any thumbstuds would have to be ambi...also the clip must be ambi

also a great warranty to back it up

thanks in advance, Bill

MT Amphibian meets all those requirements except that the blade is about 3 1/2". They're definitely worth a look anyway.

Edit: sorry I didn't notice the Amphibian clip is not ambi.

Hands down the Benchmade 630 Skirmish will do ANYTHING tuff you ask of it.
See my review HERE

Clip is not ambi.
Blade is 4.3 inch, s30v, tuff stuff
When I tested it hard the clip got in my way and I would have removed it for edc.
Matter of fact I was so impressed with it I bought one and have it in my BOB.
Can be gotten on secondary market for <$175.
Will be coming out in a few weeks for major distribution.
I heard there was production issues.
I used #37 and own #42 :)
Regards
Tom

Benchmade 805 TSEK or 710...Both are 100% ambidextrious.

Have you looked at the Buck Striders? They are beefy as all get out and supposed to be very tough! They are not small though. They are quite thick to be pocket carried.

Another vote for the BM AFCK.., tough to beat all around. Very tough knife and darn near nails every requirement you state.

emerson CQC-7 and you can choose a L or R set up from the custom knife link on the emersonknives site.

Hard use for under $175, dual thumbstuds and ambi. clip? Benchmade 710.

Ive used mine as a work knife for 2 years now. Strong lock, easy to open with either hand. Great ergos as well.

Any of the Benchmades listed, why look anywhere else for a lefty knife.

Also the Chinook is a rock, I beat the heck out of mine, but you do sacrifice a little cutting ability with the thicker blade.

Right now I'm carrying my beat to death AFCK which tends to be my go-to piece when I know I will be potentially abusing a folding knife.

thank you all for your advice....with so many people recommending the axis lock, i looked into that world

there are too many choices in the axis lock world!!

i finally ended up ordering a doug ritter griptilian.

hope i made a good choice :D

Nice choice...I just bought one myself. :) The blade looks real nice...plus it's S30V. I had a Griptilian 551 and kicked the hell out it. Loved it too great ergos, nice action and the Axis lock kicks ass...the 440C just couldn't keep up with me though and I sold her off. So looking forward to this one though. :D
