Greetings fellow Forumites

I do not like Assisted Opening (AO) knives but I really like my Kershaw Spec Bump. Does anybody know whether it is possible to de-activate this feature?
I’ll happily strip the knife myself and see whether this can be done but I thought I would first get advice from the technical experts here….

My wife has the Kershaw Cyclone 1630 with the rocker switch for de-activating the AO and we both really appreciate this feature.

Help please!

Due to the locking mechanism, I doubt that there is any detent or such to keep the blade closed if the spring is removed, and it would become very dangerous to carry because the blade would be able to open very easily in pocket.

Maybe if you got a titanium bump with the framelock, it would have a detent and you would be able to remove the torsion bar.

It can be done by removing the torsion bar in the handle, but as the mac said, the knife would open very easily. The stud lock would work just as well, but it would be hard to keep the knife closed.

Thanks fellas - good advice as always. I guess I'll leave it as designed and just get used to the AO feature. I've tightened the 'safety' screw so it's locked in the 'ready to open' position as I find the safety screw awkward to use. I'll take my chances on it 'firing' in the pocket. Although I don't think this likely - I've carried the knife quite a bit and I've not had any problems yet.
Thanks again.
