Advice regarding a stone

I would like advice on a good sharpening stone to sharpen scandi grinds. I know how to sharpen scandi and I have used multiple grits of paper for years. I now want just one stone to keep my blades touched up, or a max of two. A stone that will sharpen but not leave a bunch of scratches etc. on the bevel. Not into ultra expensive water stones, I am a simple guy.

What's the finest grit sandpaper you have prefered to finish on?

I use 1,000 grit to touch up, I do not let my blades get dull. But, I do get a nick once in awhile. I make a lot of "off the landscape" bow drill kits to start campfires for evening programs.

I also touch up convex blades on a stone sometimes. Yes I am very careful with the convex.

An Arctic Fox field stone would cover your needs well.

^This. If you are trying to get by with one general purpose sharpening stone and conventional steels (vs modern PM 'super steels'), I'd recommend 3 possible options (I use them all).
* Baryonyx Arctic Fox bench stone (400 ANSI grit). A beautiful AloX stone that is among the top 2 or 3 most versatile stones I have, and the one I'd choose among the following ones if I had to choose, because it creates such a great edge and nice finish. The other two follow below.
* Norton JB8 combi bench stone (coarse 120 / fine 280 ANSI). This is an surprisingly effective general purpose SiC stone, the only minor 'catch' if it bothers you is, it's an oil stone so you need to use honing oil with it. Lots of people feel like if you had to get by with one stone for all sharpening, this would be the one since you can do both coarse and fine work to finish your edge.
* SharpPebble (coarse 320 / fine 500 ANSI). This SiC stone is a 'water stone' that seems slightly more friable than the Norton, and I actually prefer it to the Norton except when doing coarse/profiling work. You can find this stone on the Big River site among other places, search for "SharpPebble stone", they have several options but this SiC stone would be the one you'd want for general purpose.
