I am new on here and own only one knive a Dozier Folding Hunter. I was about to buy a Sebenza when my wife chimed in with "why don't I buy you a knife for you birthday, something custom". Ok so I start to look around. Not being an expert I just picked things I liked. Basically I have 4 or 5 names in mind, in no particular order:
1. Kirby Lambert
2. Bob Terzuola
3. Andre De Villiers
4. Brad Duncan
5. Greg Lightfoot

Tactical folder I guess would be the category here, 3 to 4 inch blade. Knife will get used and taken on my off road trips which is my primary money pit, although I can see how this forum could be dangerous to your wallet. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated since I have very little knowledge about the custom knife world. Thanks in advance.

You have picked some mighty fine makers!! Check out this site: http://www.steeladdictionknives.com/ Dave has an EXCELLENT selection of custom knives!! And is FANTASTIC to deal with. Might I also suggest you looking at Darrel Ralph, Rick Hinderer, David Mosier. Here is a link to Jens Anso: http://www.ansoknives.com/ And do check out Kevin Wilkens' work: http://www.wilkins-knives.com/ You will LOVE the Steel Addiction website!! Check out the makers for sale forum here as well!! We have a lot of EXCELLENT makers here! I will make one final suggestion for a Scott Cook Lochsa, but it is a 2 year wait. Here is Scott's website: http://www.scottcookknives.com/lochsa.htm

I can second steel addiction, I have completed several deals with Dave and all were smooth as glass. He gets a lot of kick ass stuff.

You cannot go wrong with a knife from either maker. Also, I forgot to mention a true personal favorite, John W. Smith. He makes a totally awesome EDC!!

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Duh, how can I forget one of MY favorites, Mr. Mayo!! DO check out his stuff!!

After much thought I have choosen a Kirby Lambert Inferno. Thanks to everyone that offered advice. I am thrilled with my decision and David at Steel Addiction was great to deal with. I am sure I will enjoy using Kirby's knife for many years to come.
