I traded for a Mini Grit tanto recently and bloody well love the knife. I used to HATE the Griptilians with a burning passion, but I was odlffered this one for a knife I really wanted to be rid of and figured that at worst, I got something that is better to trade with.
When I got the Grip, first thing I did was sharpen it (of course, sucky factory edge), but since it was a tanto I figured I would sharpen it how an American tanto should be sharpened (to me), with the tip bevels being more obtuse for a stronger tip. The problem is that I intended to go with about 20° and it turned out being close to 50° inclusive with a horribly uneven grind. Since I have officially established that I suck at American tanto grinds, I was considering rounding the tip out (and reprofiling). Should I continue with this idea?
I know I can, were I to take my time, set the tip bevels at a more acute angle... but should I bother? For the record, my Grip is black coated.
