Advice that is...
Hi guys!
I really need some help here. I'm being offered this CR Sebenza ,called "Gold Eyes", it's limited edition, number 3 out of 30. I can't however find any info on that knife... And that guy wants $550 for it. Is it worth it? It's used, but in perfect condition, he said that he was only using it to open letters. Thank you all in advance. And excuse my English.

That looks very similar the the regular production CGG "Eyes" graphic. I'm not sure what makes that particular knife different enough to make it a limited edition. Assuming it's legit, I personally don't think that paying a premium over the CGG version is worth it...especially since its not NIB. That's just my opinion though.

Do you have any pics.....? Don't recall seeing one by that name before, though I probably haven't seen every CGG that came down the pike. I have a large 21 Eyes and the design is pretty cool. I definitely would like to see how it compares to the current eyes version like the previous poster suggested.

The OP had originally posted a link to the advertisement in question. I'm not sure why the link was edited out but I was. I'll look through my history and if I can find it I'll send you a PM.

@hippo - it's a large one.
And there is more to this story: i can find links to this LE model only on russian websites..... But owner swears that it was posted at some point in time on official Chris Reeve's site.

Here is the link

I removed it by accident, since I'm posting from my damn phone. And thank you for your feedback guys.

Thanks for emailing me the pics........That sebenza does look nice indeed. Its definitely a CRK and is a limited edition and is marked as so. Thus it would command more than the standard EYES CGG. With the plain one in at aprox. $485, the other is actually not that much more. He stated it was used, but in like new condition. Double studs will also add $35 to it, so when you add everything up considering its in like new condition.............For another $30 bucks to have a limited edition CGG which I don't think too many of us have seen before, I would go for it if I wanted it.
If unsure about it, just email CRK. They will get back to you right away and confirm any questions you may have on it. I have never seen it on the CRK website, but I also don't check it everyday either.

No problem. You make some good points...especially about the dual thumb studs. If we know one thing for sure is that it's the real deal.

Thank you , I feel safer now. I did send an email to CRK (thanks nyefmaker) waiting for response now. I'll be meeting with that guy tomorrow. He said that there is a box, a key, and a certificate that comes with it. I've heard about those chinise knock-offs, so is there anything I should look for, that proofs that it's real ? Thanks

That looks cool. It's worth exactly what you think it is worth and willing to pay. Because it is a limited edition where as there are not many made, it's hard to put a price tag on it. I know that probably doesn't mean much to you but the market changes daily. If out of the 30 made, five people try to sell it in the same day, the price on it will have to drop, and then again if you find someone that has been looking for a particular knife for years, you may get more...

I don't know anything about the value of the knife in question but it looks very cool. From looking at the pics I wouldn't rate it LNIB though. There are definitely some signs of gentle wear. I don't think they detract from the looks at all and I wouldn't hesitate to buy a knife in that condition--I'm just saying a "like new in box" shouldn't have any signs of wear. That might just be me though.

Good luck!

Just got off the phone with CRK and they confirmed that there was a batch ordered locally , that was shipped later on to Russia. Picking it up for sure.

Congrats on the Golden Eyes. Looking forward to some pics once you get it. Great price for a limited edition. I had never seen this version before and I doubt many here did either. Very nice score and so glad we all could help in your decision.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your help! If it wasn't for you guys, I would've walked away thinking "$550! Yeah, right". Will definitely post some pics later on. Cheers
