The steel is already pitted, there's nothing to do without grinding off metal, and I wouoldn't do that. Just keep the blade clean and wipe off after use, and live it. It's not going to hurt anything. Just use the knife and enjoy it, and try to ignore the pits, exept as a lesson to take care of the knife.
I used to worry about such things until I was exposed to the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi. Google the term, it has opened my eyes to the beauty of imperfection. Stephen
