AEB-L Liner lock HT question

Hey All,

First time making a folding knife. I went with AEB-L for my first time. I don't own a mill. This was all done by hand and my drill press. I'm copying one of my kershaw knives for the first time around to get the hang of it all. I will go for Ti next time.

I have two questions. I'm really confused on how to harden the lock bar. From what I have read you harden it the same as the blade, and then temper to 1000 degrees. Is this correct? Its also my first time working with stainless. If you bend it before HT, when you plate quench isn't that going to just bend it back?

#2. The detent ball. Does it go in AFTER HT? I will drill the hole before, but with this design the detent isn't what keeps the blade closed. Its the assisted spring. Its just there to ride the blade. So still put this in AFTER?

Thanks!
