AEB-L Nail Nick

Just starting using aeb-l for folders and love the stuff, but whats the best way to blacken the nail nick? It just ends up a dull grey so I usually polish it.
For HT I’m using foil packets and plate quenching so the blades come out really clean.
Previously I’ve used high carbon steels which were easy to darken with gun blue etc.

I darkened my sign by first etching it with straight ferric Chlorid (41%) and then gun blue over it. Worked much better on aebl then on 440b.
