Greetings everyone,

Here are a few small/neck knives that I’ve been working on. The blades are all AEB-L that I picked up from Alpha Knife Supply. I heat treated six blades, three from .098 and three from .118, but these are the ones that I’ve finished up so far. The smallest knife has an edge that is 3 inches long, and the other blades are (obviously) a little longer. The handles are black and grey G10, but they came out more grey than not after I textured them. I bead blasted the handles and blades after I finished them. However, I found it more difficult than I expected to get an even finish on the blades. I also thought bead blasting would leave a durable finish, but you can see that the smallest knife is already showing wear, just from making the Holstex (like Kydex) sheath for it. (I tried taping and touching up the blades with the bead blaster, but that just left lines across the blades where the tape was.) The sheath was designed for both neck and belt carry. While plastic is nice, I may end up making leather sheaths for the others. Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

They look great. I really like the grey/black G10, especially with the pattern you did. That's a shame the bead blasting wasn't more durable. That's odd that it wears off so easily. I wonder why that's happening. I've had bead blasted knives before, and they were never THAT easy to scratch.

I ended up preventing scratches to the blades by covering them all with a layer of painter's tape while I fitted their Kydex sheaths. Then I re-bead blasted and re-sharpened all of the blades. I also made a new sheath for the smallest knife. Now all three blades are uniformly (fairly) grey and their sheaths fit correctly.
