Hey guys, i am new to using AEB-L and while getting close to finishing a fillet knife the edge went from veing buce and straight to having very prominant waves that move and flex back and forth. It seemed to happen 2 times once when grinding right before hand sanding and once i ground the edge back and went to hand sand it happened again...
If it helps at all i was doing a hollow grind on an 18in wheel
Does anyone have any insight on this?

I've been there with AEB-L. You got it to thin. You may have to shorten your blade height to get it thick enough to be stable. Be careful with a hollow grind not getting thinner just behind the edge then on the edge. On an 18" wheel that's far less likely but it could still happen. I've done it on my 14".

Is this mostly an issue with AEB-L? I usually work with 52100 and W2 and have gotten both of them thinner and never ran into this issue.
How thin is it reasonable to go?

Yes,

I literally had a perfectly straight slip joint blade bend when grinding. I have done dozens that did not, but one took a turn.
