Just recently purchased an aegis hoplite, and here's a little background which will lead up to my question. I went to the nycks show last month and saw an aegis for the first time. This thing caught my really caught my eye. So I played with it for a few minutes and the flipping action on it was amazing! So I was sold, but my wallet wasn't at the time and I wasn't able to purchase that one. But a week or 2 went by and I saw one for sale on BF, bought it, and received it in the mail yesterday. Looks great just like the 1st time I saw it! except it isn't flipping like it did the first time I played around with it. So I figured maybe it needed some working in and here I am a day later and its still stiff coming out, and if I really throw my wrist into it, the locking bar pretty much goes to 75-80% and its really tight to unlock. So come to my surprise, I did some researching and my knife looks a little different from the aegis you see today and yup, I have the prototype. And I know that the aegis hoplite 1.0 has the Caged Ceramic Bearings in it which is probably why that thing flips so nice. So my question if anyone is still reading, is can I purchase the Caged Ceramic Bearings and put them in the prototype or deal with the action that I have? Thanks

I would think that the inside of the scales would need to be milled out to accept the caged bearings? just a guess as I really have no clue what I'm talking about!)

I would contact Aegis directly, contact information is on their web page, they would certainly have the information that you need. Good luck, let us know how you made out.

I'll do that! just figured I'd throw my question on here to see if anyone had any input but who better then to goto the guy that made the knife in the first place :)
