Just wonder if it's possible to make the Boker AF handle a bit lighter...?

Can I open it without making damage...?

Thanks

May I ask you why nobody answer to my question ? Is it because :

1- It's a stupid question
2- I'm a newbie (1&2 could be put together)
3- You already answer to this question
4- You don't like my english grammar (I understand, awfull to reread myself...)
5- Others....???

The handles are held together with one set screw and once apart you should find some lead weights inside for balance which you can remove if you want.

The advice from Strider is right on the money, the leadweights might be epoxied so it might be a tad difficult to get'em out, and i do think that it might be a good idea to have something to fill up the empty space with.
Epoxy might be just the ticket!

Please let us know how it worked out

Sorry, kao!

1- It's not a stupid question. The only stupid question is the one you don't ask.

2- We were all newbies once. We need all the new people we can get.

3- We answer a lot of questions when they come up again and again. You could do a search first to see if someone asked before, but most of us are willing to try new answers to many old questions.

4- Your english grammar was fine; I didn't notice till you mentioned it that you thought you had a problem with it.

5- Others? Well, I didn't know what a Boker AF was, so I couldn't answer you. I clicked on your question because I was in the US Air Force once upon a time, and wondered if that's what you meant.

But it was an interesting question, and I'm glad you did get some real information. Sometimes it takes a while, though. All of us aren't knowledgeable about every knife out there!

Yes,sorry, but I don't know anything about the Boker AF or I would have been more than happy to answer your post

We're normally pretty fast on responding about knives a lot of people know about. It seems that not too many people own the Boker A-F though. I've never really even seen one.

Kao welcome to the forums hope you like it here. I am an American and I have to keep a spell checker by my side at all times so don't worry about it to much.
And like it was mentioned above the only stupid questionis the one you don't ask.By the way I don't know anything about the knife in question or I would help.

Thank you all for your answers . I realize that I should have written Applegate Fairbairn and not simply AF. I have to be more clear and explicit in my posts.(These newbies....!!)
In fact , I was speaking about an AF (again !) black I just received. Same as the normal one, except titaniun coating and no signatures. What I heard is that it was made for the German army and they ask without it.
Like I said, I found it very heavy , but the balance is good and I hesitate to change anything.Maybe open it by curiosity....
Thanks again

Hi Kao,

The Boker AF is something I'm considering for myself and if you have any opinions on this knife - apart from the heavy handle
wink.gif
- i'd sure like to hear them. Blackjack knives used to offer a good version of this knife many years ago and I kick myself for not getting one then.

Regards
Red

Hi red,
The AF is for me one of the best double edge knife on the market .(not speaking about customs)
It's well build and designed , tough, good steel and balance...
Now , if you want to talk about utility...
