Lol, ya. There’s an old feral badger attack 3 that will be getting a beating next.

This anorexic fusion battle mistress is no joke for a chopper of this weight/size. There are already some things I have “tested” and the tip is still.. a tip. Very happy with this skinny girl.

Batacs are dope. Regret selling the CS one I had. It was a really cool swedged variant with Grex'd scales 🥲

Nice! You need to make a Propper Batton it'll be easier on your hand also. Thanks for the review. 👍

YES! Love this kind of content! Thanks for posting!

That was quite impressive how thick of branches it went through in a single swing!

Did you hurt your hand at the end of the batoning video? Looked like you abruptly dropped it as if you shocked your left hand.

Looking forward to what else you've got coming. 👊

Thanks. All good. I just threw the wood down since I was done on that piece.
I could’ve used a better suited baton, but I guess I’m just used to use a grabbing whatever is around me when in woods etc..

At least it was not a hammer lol

I’ll eventually post better quality content when actually in the field, and use various knives.

Yes! No hammers unless you want to end up with a knife like Eric's now-shortened BGFBM! INFI just might take it though I'm betting.

Comparing it with or against other knives will make for an interesting video. While I enjoy desktop reviews, sometimes it seems that there's an over-abundance of that in comparison with actual use vids, so I was quite happy to see you sharing this kind of content on nice knives like Busse.

I'd like to start making some videos to share as well but I want to build some sort of test rig to sort of standardize cutting tests, mainly chopping, to get relativistic data on various knives. Probably use a standard test media like 2x4s or something. I'm just trying to figure out what to build and how to construct it to make it sturdy enough.

Maybe copy the design that Busse showed in the chopping demo video of the Choppasaurus.

Not having any good platform to beat on really prevents me from playing around on my property as I wish I could. ☹️ Maybe I'll get some saw horses at the hardware store to start.

If it brakes from a hammer it has a serious heattreat issue. I have beaten Bucks 420hc with a 2pound hammer for a few hours no problem. I had a 20min session where the blade was stuck in wood inside a knot. Hammered it through the knot which like I said took 20min

Eh, I have to disagree there. Buck's 420HC is known for being a very tough steel so it's not surprising it survived that kind of beating.

Had that blade been made of D2 it'd no doubt break because that steel isn't known to be the toughest under hard impacts. The large Chromium carbides inherently make it weaker. This isn't necessarily because it was heat treated poorly, it's just the natural properties of the steel that make it less tough then 420HC.

The same goes for SR-101, it's not as tough as INFI which is why Jerry offererd both steels, they each have different strengths and weaknesses, INFI being the tougher of the two and the one better suited to take extreme use.

SR-101, while still very tough, is better suited for edge retention. Different steels for different needs.

Even a HT wizard like Jerry can't magicly change the limits of the steel's natural properties. He can only optimize what's available there.

There are still other confounding factors which we don't know, so to call it HT issue is premature and probably very unlikely given the stellar reputation Busse has with this steel. There's a reason he offers a tougher steel grade made for more extreme use.

Put simply, different steels for different needs, one isn't better than the other necessarily (unless it's that Husk knife, then virtually every modern cutlery steel is better, lol)

Sorry for derailing OP! Just figured I should clarify my earlier statements to not be misconstrued as drama.

What I mean is.. if INFI broke from hammer impacts.

SR-101 I know isn't tough at all. I tested plenty samples of SR to edge failure

👍 Yeah, it wasn't INFI, it was SR-101, I see now I made a mistake and called it the CGFBM, it was not, it was a Battle Grade, not Combat Grade. Let me go back and fix that. Sorry for the confusion.
