Here is a pic of a fighter I had comissioned by a fellow forum member. He gave me the basics of what he was wanting and allowed me to work from there which is always a nice change of pace. He did have on thing that he specified, and some of you may be able to guess who's knife this is by the shape of the choil. :) :D Of course I forgot this when I was making it and had to reshape the choil after it was finished but after a hour or so with a high anxiety factor I got the choil reshaped to his prefered shape with no wear and tear on the knife. Actually I am just ribbing him a little here. :p
The blade is froged from W-2 and is 7 1/8" long and 1 5/8" wide. The thickness starts out at a full 1/4" at the guard and has a nice distal taper the full length of the blade. The overall length is 12 3/8". The guard is 416 SS with a copper spacer and another 416SS spacer. The handle is a a piece of stabilized Afzelia Lay from WSSI. The handle material has a different look depending on which direction you look at it from. It is some really neat stuff. the is a nice hamon with alot of activity in it that I was unable to capture in the photo.

Beautiful knife and some outstanding wood for the handle. I really like the accent spacer in the guard - nice touch.

Gonna be very happy when it shows up!

Very nice looking fighter, Craig. Not sure if Steve is worthy of that one or not. :p ;) :D

Thats a nice chopper. I realy like the lines of the handle in kombination with the nice big blade !

Good Work

Another beaut! Man, you're really nailing the style I like... right down to the choil, clip and hamon! Not to mention the handle shape... :D

It was after Craig posted pics of YOUR fighter that I commissioned him to make this one. Looks like we have some similar taste in knives.

Best Regards,

Well, for some reason, Craig has been nailing the style I like from right out the get go! The thread where he showed the making of mine, the one he made for Danbo's son and this one... Yup, all in the range I love! And it's nice to know someone else likes to have a usable choil on their blades! I know, some don't care for a big choil as it may get hung up when pulling the blade through something, but I like the option it gives me for closer control of certain cutting needs...

Steven, that's just another great example from another potentially great knife maker!!!... Now, if he can keep his thumbs out of the fan blades like another good maker we all know... who knows??

:D

VERY nice work, Craig. You make some fine knives. They deserve better than linoleum background and kitchen stove lighting :p

Thanks guys!
Yeah I wish I was a better photographer.......
Actually you would think that I at least could have stuck the tile samples to the board so they didn't have gaps. :)
Luckily for me I see Terrill at a few shows every year and he takes some great pics for me.
