I'm starting to learn how fight with a tomahawk and bowie knife and i wanted to buy a traditional style bowie to match my traditional style tomahawk.

I'd like it to have a crossguard, preferably a coffin shaped handle but if not, that's still OK.length should be 5" or larger.I can go up to $100 but i would prefer if it was less.(I'm on a budget here)

Oh and don't suggest Kabars as I'm not looking for that type of knife.

Look into Muela Knives. I've had a smaller Muela Bowie since I was 7 (am now 25), had to sharpen it a few times but it held up very well. No idea how much my parents paid for it, but they were pretty poor so it must have been affordable.

they don't make 'em anymore and there more than any 5", but i have a Gerber Australian Bowie. i think they changed the name, before they discontinued them, the the Utility Bowie. this is back when Gerbers were made in OR. i mention it because it has a coffin shaped kraton handle. i've had mine for 20 years and love it. they still pop up for sale, here and there, for 80-130. i think you'd like it.

There are about a hundred W-49 Western Bowies out on eBay right now. 9.5 inch blades. If you saw Jeremiah Johnson, it was the knife he had. Here it is. I have this one. I sort of remember the box from when I got it for Christmas back in 1970 or so.

I think the CS Laredo goes for around $150 though. :o But if you want something really affordable in a classic western style, just to have, check these out...

The quallity on these are kind of hit and miss, but for the most part they are plenty solid enough for "fighting" or chopping on some tree branches. :D

I'd really love to get a Laredo but in Australia (that's where I live) they cost about the same as the MSRP.

In this situation, edge holding doesn't really matter to me at all. I am liking a few of the Windlass bowies aswell.

basspro has a decent looking redhead (bass pro's brand) bowie for 34.99....i have no experience with it but user reviews seem positive and it's well within your budget. may not fit all your details but could be worth checking out. good luck!
