With all the hype about Magnacut, I wanted to try it myself to see how it does and if it indeed is all that it is cracked up to be. That being said I wanted to get a folder with a blade about 2.5 to 3.5 blade with the steel in a reasonable price (subjective I know) with a good heat treat and good grinds. Or if I cannot afford to get one, has anyone had good or bad experiences with a folder or fixed blade? Thanks and I know it will be a lot of people’s opinions but I wanted to see for myself to try it. Thanks.

(Manix 2 Salt)

Hogue and Kerahaw have Magnacut < $150.
Spyderco has a few Magnacut Salts between $150-200.

I have a few Salts and a CRK in the steel. If pressed to tell the difference between S30/35/45, I would say it’s easier to maintain by stropping. I am NOT a heavy user though (excepting a few designated work knives).

If Auto are OK, the Kershaw Guy has Launch 15 and 20 in Magnacut on sale ($138/$110, respectively). I bought the 15 from him a while ago, good seller and good knife ! He also has other Magnacut knives, including non-auto, might want to check it out.

Thanks for all the help, decided to live the Magnacut experiment through those who already have them, couldn’t justify spending more for another knife just to test the blade steel, the only thing that almost nabbed my wallet were some small fixed blades, the Viper Handy, and the Boker Coffin handle slip joint in blue micarta.
