Got a message from Lalit this week: the Afghan khukuri project is under way, but they won't be here for the next shipment, unless I can get him to make a couple and send them as teasers. But he IS working on them, so delivery will be in about 6 to 8 weeks. Again, no money in advance. When they come in, I'll post a link to a private order page for forumites only - I'll post it on the forum.

The "Afghan khukuri" in the GH Photo Gallery is both graceful and powerful. This is one that I don't want to miss! How true to the picture will it be? Did you mention how many you're getting? What else can you tell us about it?!

All I can tell you about it is that given the great job TB did on getting the Reiger khukuri done, the Afghan should be a real winner. It won't be in this shipment, which is due in about 7 days, but will be in the next one.

The whole khukuri is elegant. There are so many different blade shapes in the archives, but this one is the most memorable of the forward-curving style. (Is there a Nepali name for it?)

While the handle design goes very well with blade, I'm not quite sure if it's horn or wood. What will it be? And will the raised ring be in the location pictured?

I sure hope you're reserving a smaller one for me (if there's any size variation, that is). But I'll gladly take whatever size the kamis make. It's different, but yet traditional---Craig, you're about to do it again!!!

Well, we'll see. I think they're making all horn versions in the 18 to 20 range. The next shipment comes in September 4th, and I'm hoping there's at least one sample there. If not, look for a mid-october arrival date.

Craig, will you pulleease post a picture on the forum of the Afghan if one arrives in an earlier shipment? It would be terriffic if one came in with the Sept. 4th batch!
