Ok guys I have what appears to be a Benchmade AFO2 automatic. Black anodized frame and silver blade.
But it just has USA on one side of the blade and ATS-34 on the other side. It has serrations on the rear of the blade like most AFO's.
ALso this has no clip nor lock like most AFO's I see. I will put some pics up tomorrow. Anyone know what i have, is it just an unmarked Benchmade????????
It does not appear to have been molested in any way.

Welcome. Pics would be great, but I think you have an early version ('95/'96 catalog) of the AFO 9000 that was meant to be carried in a nylon pouch. The copy said a clip was offered as an option, but it's common to find without one.

I am sure that's an early AFO 9000. Long before my time collecting, I would ask others for their opine as well. Really interesting there's no logo or markings on the blade and it's seen very little use. Nice find!

I cant say I really recall where I picked it up. I do know I am the original owner and have had it for a very long time. I retired from the U.S.Army so its possible it was issue but its been with me for so long I just dont remember when/where I picked it up. Any insight anyone can share about would be appreciated.

Chris,
Those were an issued item. They're popular with collectors since not many are floating around and there is, of course, the draw of those who they were originally issued to. I remember seeing an article about DEA issuing them around the same time, and theirs weren't marked Benchmade until a few years later, either.
