Hello all. I hope your spring weather is a bit better than our winter weather here in Portland.

My brother would like a magnetic knife hanger for his PW kitchen knives, and I was thinking about using a chunk of African Blackwood I have had for a while that has some sap wood for color contrast. The block is dry, but not stabilized. I'm wondering if Ben Greenberg Woods Greenberg Woods or anyone else with the knowledge could tell me if it would react with the knife steels or if the wood is stable enough in it's natural state.
Thanks and stay dry.

Knife racks are essentially never made with stabilized wood. Mine have mostly been made from cherry heart wood and finished with boiled linseed oil.
