After 5 months of waiting...

the status for my Paramilitary 2 order has been switched to "shipped."

I thought I ordered in August, but it was actually late July. It shouldn't be long now for people who ordered around that timeframe.

Congrats, five months is way too long of a wait for a production folder. I was lucky to get one early on and it has been my favorite blade.

I agree. I'd contend that Spyderco dropped the ball on the Para2 production, but hopefully it's worth the wait and when it arrives I guess it's water under the bridge.

Ugh, all of these people saying theirs is shipped makes me even more anxious. Still no updates on my Para 2.

It came today! Early xmas present. Build quality seems good at first glance, blade is centered, came sharp. Can't wait to put it to the test...now I'm just looking for excuses to use it.

Hi Slide,

We made a few engineering adjustments. Just a few thou here and there, but testing time slowed production. We do that. Sorry. when we feel something can be improved, we make the changes.

Sal, we are just ravenous about the knife and all the criticisms will go away once we get them in our hands. I think having trouble keeping up with demand is a nice problem for a company to have :)

Hi Mongo,

When you have business, you are busy taking care of business. When you do not have business, you're busy seeking business.

That's why they call it busyness. ;)

Sal, I am glad you guys took time to refine the Para 2. It shows the commitment you and your crew has to your products! Thank you and Merry Christmas!

P.S. I still can't wait for my Para 2 to arrive.

Because you take the time to make sure your products meet your expectations you have customer base that is more loyal to the brand than any other I know.

Thanks for making great stuff for people like me to enjoy.

Got mine this week. Really like it.

Hey Sal-

As an engineer myself, I can respect that. Based on past info I had read, I had (erroneously) understood it to be a case of "just didn't make enough." I wasn't trying to step on anyone's toes with my comment, sorry about that.

Merry Christmas!

No problem Slide,

Sometimes on our "sprints" we don't make enough, but that's only because we "guessed" poorly.

Sometimes our contractors are slower than liked.

We generally try to build as many of anything as our market wants. Capacity has been an issue in recent times. We are consistently growing our US factory and capacity, but it too is slower than liked.

Apparently the post office attempted to deliver mine today. I didn't think the postal service was even open on Christmas. I'll have to check my mailbox. One of the more frustrating things about living in an apartments is not having the mailman knock on your door when you have a package.

I would rather have it right than fast.

Just received one for Christmas and I must say, this knife is top notch! Great job Sal and the folks at Spyderco.

Sal, when you say "engineering adjustments," are you referring to production equipment/machinery or the Para 2?

Reason I ask is that is appears that the assumption is that the "adjustments" were made to the Para 2, but the timing seems odd if that is the case. Wasn't it possible to catch the issues or observe the areas that have been "adjusted" before the release of the first run of Para 2s?

One would assume that there was planning, testing, and review prior to the release of the Para 2. Why weren't the areas "adjusted" caught then or more time provided for testing?
