Hello!
I havent been posting on bladeforums in some time now! I am still alive and well. I've been making knives here and there over the last year or so but had other priorities to deal with.
I've decided I want to be in the folding knife game so have been fiddling with slipjoints. I have made three prior to this with the first being an experiment and the other two being my EDCs for the last year. They all had flaws but were good learning experiences. Folding knives are a totally different game than the typical fixed blades I was making. They are both difficult and rewarding at the same time.
This one is based on a saddlehorn pattern but it got changed along the way slightly.
Overall I am happy with it. It has pretty nice walk and talk and sits dead center. I am a bit unhappy that I did not relieve the liners enough and am getting some scratching around the tang. I am working on funds for a milling machine to relieve liners but will probaly try etching next time until I get one.
Overall I'm feeling good with this being my forth slipjoint. I am roughing out and profiling parts for a few more today but also have 5 fixed blades and a dagger on my bench!
Thanks for looking and its good to be back!
Specs:
