Does anyone have any recommendations for an after-market Khukri sheath? I am thinking about something more field carry friendly than the traditional wood sheath. Preferably something in leather.

I'm pretty sure you would have to get 1 made custom if you're not interested in the Kami medical fund sheath

Well here's a link to a thread that a fellow forumite is showing off a nice new leather sheath he had made for a farm knife. Here

I myself am getting some custom Kydex sheaths made by a gentleman after I came across this post Here

Prior to the purchase of my 1st Khukuri I knew I wanted to get a kydex sheath made, that thread helped me choose the maker. Hope that has helped

Here are some things to consider about sheaths.

  • The kukri is made out of carbon steel and will rust if exposed to moisture in a sheath.
  • Leather sheaths hold moisture
  • Ill fitting leather sheaths, especially ones made of very hard leather and ones that are unlined, will continually scratch a polished blade.

Kydex sheaths do not hold moisture, dry quickly and have drain holes. They also have limitless mounting options.

I personally love leather sheaths and so I am carelul not to leave the kukri in the sheath when not in use or being stored. That being said, if I could find someone that could make a kydex sheath for a kukri as well as the CS Secure-ex sheath, I would have one made for every kukri I have.

Good luck,
Bill

Thanks for the recommendations thus far. I'm firm on the leather choice though and well aware of the pros and cons involving different materials. Mneedham's sheath is really nice. I see it was made by goose. I may have to get an order in. :D

Iboschi,

What's the length of the kukri you have?

Steve Tall's fantastic sheath seems to fit your bill (If there are still any left, i scooped 4 of them).

You could read the sizing here:

The leather quality is superb and is lined with a PU-like layer so less moisture from the leather seeps in.

You could email Auntie for it. It's my all-out sheath.

Thanks for the recommendation, Jay. An updated thread about these sheaths can be found here:

Thanks for the info on those. I've handled one in the past and know it's not exactly what I'm looking for this time around. That B.G. leatherworks sheath posted by Mneedham is more in line with what I'm looking for I think.

I recommend Ilbruche (found on Ramanon) or B. G. Leatherworks (see my HI Farm knife thread..), B.G. does some nice kuk sheaths.
