Ok fellas, I have been wanting to do this for the longest time and I finally took the plunge and made a micarta scale for my southard. I took a pair of my wifes digicam army pants. Man o man am I proud of this! I never thought that my first onr would come out this good! The initial block/plate came out completely 100% perfect and flat, I couldn't believe it:watermelon: Then I made the scale and thought I would some how make a mistake cuz I've never done it before but took my time and it came out wonderful. I didn't notice but in the middle of the scale is an almost perfect skull too. Heres some pics of my little project....

heres a detailed picof the skull,My wife said its kinda hard to see...

Hers a pic to kinda show how flat it came out, zero sanding

You can see the skull in the middle...

the material looks so cool, has a distressed look to it

also gave the screws a distressed kind of look to match the material...

came out of the press so flat...

last one...

Making a new scale is on my list of summer projects! I am hoping that my first one comes out that good:)

its grippy but not super grippy. Im thinking of sanding the surface a bit to pull out the natural feel of the cloth. I did this in a day and a half from pants to scale
