I took my kids on a hike after school today. I carried my BK9. It worked flawlessly (obviously) clearing a few downed branches across the trail and making walking sticks for my kids. Here's a few shots of the trip. This was the most successful hiking trip my son has had. He's 4 and was a trooper. Last time we tried this hike we only made it a few hundred yards up the trail, which has a very steep hill at the beginning.

A beauty shot (if you can call it that)

Looks, indeed, like a good time......Time with your kids are the best.......Thank you for sharing the wealth.....

I fully understand the complications of hiking with small kids lol. This past summer, our weekend routine was to make trips to Natural Bridge State Park here in KY. My youngest just turned 3 a couple days ago, so imagine the difficulty of some of those treks lol. It was a toss-up on whether we could hike, or not?
Glad you guys had fun, and I'm even more glad you got to spend quality time with your kiddos.

Holy Duck Dynasty man, you got a beard! I'm happy to see kids playing outside. Is the barbed wire just old livestock fencing?

Thanks for the comments. Fun times were had by all.

Murphnuge, the barbed wire, I'm guessing, is an old perimeter fence from a Japanese ammunition depot and concentration/prison camp. I live on US Navy housing base in Japan that pre-WWII was a concentration camp and also an ammunition storage area. There are areas on the base that are supposably haunted. Here's a few more pictures of the remnants of history that I took on a previous hike.

A sign warning about finding dangerous things on base.

A spot where the hill has eroded away under the old wall.

An old resevoir or hilltop bunker?

wow.. great pics and story.. I guess that's not Palmetto... :) thanks for sharing.

As wet as that area is, isn't the sign a bit much? I'd expect any ammo etc left laying in that for the past 70 years or so would be rusted to the point of being little more than scrap metal. Cool looking place though.

Great photos man! Looks like a great hike.

Those signs are pretty cool, do you have to worry about...I dunno, old boobytraps or other crazy stuff walkin around there?

I've never been too worried about finding anything dangerous in the woods. But you never know.

that looks like a pretty fun adventure, looks like some dense stuff, if you dont mind me asking what part of the country is that?
