Does anyone know if their are suppliers or makers out there that have aftermarket upgrades for BM Axislock knives? Specifically I'm thinking of carbon fiber handles or even titanium liners too...

I suppose one could just void their warranty and make their own aftermarket upgrades.

Love that axislock, especially the 710 and the 730!

I believe they made the liners on the axis lock series 410 stainless due to galling issues..smoothed out the action a little bit? As for custom handle slabs, you should be able to find someone willing to make them for you. And don't rule out a little filework on the original liners and maybe a custom anodized clip.

Should be relatively inexpensive.

Head over to the BM forum and look at what they did to a 730. I can't remember who did it, it's the guy that has been playing with all the LCC's. Looks damn nice. Ti bolsters with CF scales.

One thing: titanium liners would actually be weaker than the steel. Why? Titanium is weaker, by size, but is stronger, by weight. If you made the Ti liners thick enough to be the same strength as the steel, it would much lighter, but changing the liner thickness requires you to change a lot of other things on the knife, as well, and would probably not be worthwhile, since you could just buy a custom from McHenry and Williams, with less hassle.

Also, having someone else do the modifications still voids the warranty. Only Benchmade can work on your knife without voiding the warranty.

I have seen customized ones with mammoth ivory, looked real nice. And if you were to try and order a custom from Bill, he has quite a waiting list, and the cost would be substational, I saw the one that Jason made to get into the Guild, it was SWEET!! and about $3000 if I remember correctly

OK, so where is a picture of this knife. I went over there and did a search, and haven't been able to find it. Link please.

Rocky, I remember seeing the reworked Ares over at the Benchmade forum.
