Having owned a leatherman wave, sidekick, and OHT, something keeps bringing me back to the Gerber mp400 and mp600. That being said, I'm not fond of the blade shape they have used for several years now. Has anyone here had a better blade made for their tool, or swapped in one of better quality from a different tool?

Plenty of people have swapped Leatherman blades between models. Some work without modification and some don't.

I have seen custom made blades and blades modified from other knives to fit as well.

Check out multitool.org for more info. Lots of Leatherman modders over there.

I absolutely HATE the newer blade shape they use. It seems they made the switch for no reason. Its a complete downgrade and makes absolutely no sense to me. You could look into getting a older style beater MP400/MP600 and just take the blade out of that one. The Gerbers are extremely easy to disassemble and reassemble.
