Aftermarket leather sheath for BK9

Does anyone know of a relatively decent aftermarket leather sheath that the bk9 could fit into? Retention, attachment, color etc. aren't important. Doesn't have to be a perfect fit, as long as it's not too small. I have a little project in mind and will have to heavily modify it anyways.

I'm not looking to have a custom sheath made, I'm looking for a generic factory sheath maybe made by another company that the 9 can fit.

Thanks!

I don't know of any off hand as many go the synthetic route nowadays. You may want to go custom or maybe even try building one yourself. It takes time but it's doable with few supplies.

That's what I'm thinking too, after doing an extensive search and finding almost nothing. I'm just going to order some materials and craft together a crude one. Thanks for the input

Kabar big brother sheath. I have multiples for bk9/7, Busse bwm. I wanted to stock up on them while I could cause they are cheap and well made. Flea bay still has 2 for sale.

That would be totally perfect. Is flea bay a forum user? If you ever have time, do you think you could upload a pic of the 9 in the big bro sheath? I'm just worried about that thumb ramp area sliding all the way into the sheath. The retention strap/belt loop don't matter, for my project. You might have just saved me a ton of time and a huge headache, thanks! I really appreciate it man!!

This is old pic, if you want to see blade laying on top of outline of sheath it will have to wait as don't have the 9 on me.

Guarantee its a perfect fit though, except strap "may" be tight at first but to me that's a good thing as it most likely will never shake around.

Oh, flea bay is ebay. They had a bunch of them but they are mostly sold out. I'd hurry, only two left as I could see, they are $10-11 shipped. Highly doubt you'll be disappointed as they fit a variety of knives well is not perfect.

I love this forum, and all the awesome users on it. I used to have a standard usmc kabar w/leather sheath, so if the quality is anything close, this will be completely perfect for what I need. I really appreciate it big time man! I found 2 on Amazon for 11$ each, I'm about to get both. I don't need a pic with the blade on top, I can see the imprint in there pretty good. I was only worried about the thumb ramp. Thanks again buddy!!

No problemo. As said might be snug at first, just bend every thing up a bit and let it sit in there, will fit like glove after a day.
Much perfer these to the factory BK sheaths. Just ride on a belt much better and snug fit. Don't mind BK sheaths though but just bigger fan of leather for most part. Hope it serves you well and see you around the BK forum!

You were right man. Got mine in the mail today, it is really snug at first but after just a couple hours of sitting, it has stretched out just enough for a perfect fit. Super decent quality for the price too. It works out so well I'm not even going to modify it, as I had planned. I'm just going to use it as is, the fit is surprisingly good. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive leather option. It rides nicely on the belt, but it is a bk9, so of course a little cumbersome, but I find it more manageable than a kydex dangler, unless it's leg strapped. Thanks buddy, this is perfect for my needs.

Just ordered the last one on Amazon..thanks !

Like krogstad said, it's really tight at first, but let the knife sit in the sheath for a couple hours to stretch it out and you'll have a perfect fit. I even put my bk9 in backwards really carefully, to kind of force stretch room for the thumb ramp and that worked great. It's an awesome sheath for 12$, I don't think you'll be unhappy with it. I tested mine out today on a 1/2 mile hike and it carries better than my 80$ kydex dangler rig. I
Hope you like it man, mine is perfect for what I was looking for.

Just found this thread. I've been wanting a different sheath for my BK39 since I got it. Good thing I found this thread because I thought I'd be spending over $120 for a leather shealth. Just ordered a Kabar big brother sheath from ebay! Can't wait for it to arrive! I'll update with a pic when it gets here.

I've still got my 9 in the stock sheath.
May pick one of these up for it.
A little turned off from Kabar leather after getting a short sheath for the 16. One backpacking trip, and that thing was toast.
Granted, it was an inch too long for the knife.

Anybody put a 9 in the Big Brother through it's paces care to comment on how it held up?

I have a big brother and was using the (big brother) sheath for awhile, it ended up being a total dud because the rivets werent actually riveted, they were missing the counterpart on the back! The stitching also came loose but i chalked that up to the stith ending where it was also (not) riveted and the rivet coming out. Other than that i liked it over all. I was going to get a kydex sheath made for it but decided that that wouldnt make the most sense for me because i use my 9 ALLOT more. So i upgraded the 9 to an absolutely amazing leather sheath and the big brother rides in the old stock nylon 9 sheath.

ETA: i may restitch and rivet the big brother sheath one day.

I haven’t ever seen aftermarket handles below $40, so it’s nice to spend $10 on a leather sheath! I have terrible luck with most nylon sheathes, I wonder if shipping without a sheath would significantly lower the price on a Becker?

Mine has held up fine. It needs more attention than a $150, 14oz custom for sure! Dye job isn’t perfect, but it will last long enough to save for another!
