Hi all! I'm a huge Spyderco fan with a shrine to the brand. Sal's company is awesome.

I've yet to see a picture of a Manix 2 or handle one in the wild with anything other than a black lock toggle. This is weird to me because myself and others have some pretty spiffy scales/parts on some of them.

My question is pretty simple: Does anyone 3d print or otherwise make different colored locks? Does Spyderco ever plan to offer different colors?

My OCD is twitching that I can mix and match offsets, screws, lanyard holes, scales, blades, etc, but that damn toggle always stays black. :/

I'm pretty sure the first Manix I had had a clear toggle. Anyways, googling "manix 2 cage replacement" shows a few images of the clear toggle on the Spyderco forums. However it appears the forums are down over there right now, so I couldn't click the link to learn more.

I'll also add that I think a clear toggle would've looked great on the M4 exclusive Manix, opposed to the out-of-place black.

I'd gladly take a clear one. Black looks great for DLC blades and dark scales, but clear would look better for other colors imo.

Ok the forum is back up. Looks like the guy who had a clear one had an old model saber grind 154CM blade. I also googled the S30V version and while the promo image show a black toggle, Google image search shows ones that have a clear toggle. So my guess is the black toggle is a CQI update, and you'll have to source an older piece for the clear.

The clear ones were on older models and had a few problems with breaking, so they updated it to the black one you see now. IIRC, someone made a Ti ball cage but never produced them in any sort of quantity. Different colors would be cool, though.

Plastic is does the job especially if pushing a ball bearing in against blade tang. But I would feel better if the finger touch points were metal with jumping.

I feel a metal cage with a nylon insert for pushing the ball would be best improvement. A single milled or two piece(metal plus plastic) design would become expensive though.

Right now the cheapest superseel entry point is a manix and native with the frcp and s110v. Lots of plastic in there.

I have a bunch of Manix's and the only one I own with a clear toggle is the saber ground 154CM edition from years back. All the rest, whether LW or G10, have the black toggle.

I'm still looking around lol. I can't believe nobody is making these things. As always, I'd prefer to buy directly from Spyderco, but at this point, I'm not picky.
