I have been looking around for a new pocket clip for my Medford slim midi but haven’t really turned anything up. The thin milled clip on this thing is useless. I’ve tried giving it a slight bend to tighten it up and it either won’t go on my pocket or it won’t stay on my pocket, I haven’t been able to find a happy medium. If anybody knows of any replacement clips please let me know!

I'd email Medford and see if the clip on the Praetorian Slim would work.

Yeah the clip sucks with no replacement I know of. Ended up selling mine and carrying my praetorian genesis instead. Similar size and the clip is far superior.

So the chintzy thin clip and 1mm gap is standard for the $600+ knife?

I waited almost 6 months to receive my midi and sack. Then they delay it further because they “accidently” sold the sack I paid for but don’t say anything. I had to contact them several times over it. Unsurprisingly they didn’t offer me any kind of compensation for this, not even refunding me for the sack and sending me the ugly consolation one I got.

Medford clips downright suck, and are the reason I don't carry mine more often. Throw in that they are practically welded on and you have a serious shortcoming. Thin, sheet metal clips would be better. Clips are one of the things CRK got right.

I hated the clip also. Just buy a hinderer clip and drill the holes slightly bigger and you're all set. It's a huge improvement. pic
Exactly what I need to know, thanks! Now I am going to have to sort out the screws. The socket heads will have to be swapped with buttons for the new clip. Normally I wouldn't go to this much trouble but I'd really like to be able to carry this more.

I don't think all Medford clips suck, in fact most are downright good (excellent examples on M-48, 187, On Belay, etc); the Slim Midi I do agree leaves something to be desired. I think Medford adjusted them some as the clip now comes into closer contact with the scale, but retention still isn't great.

Every Medford clip I have is good for either jeans, or dress pants. No flexibility whatsoever.

I took some measurements of my Slim Midi and ordered some new parts.

The screws for the current clip are #4-40. Rather than getting new button head hex screws and having to drill out the clip holes to accommodate that hardware (from 0.086" to 0.112") I decided to replace the hex nuts and screws with the size that is compatible with the existing holes in the new clip.

Frame thickness 0.125"
New pocket clip (Hinderer split style) thickness 0.05"
Screws 18/8 stainless button head hex drive 2-56 x 3/16" long
Nuts 18-8 stainless hex 2-56 thread

The nut dimensions are standard and will drop right into the handle. Even though the new screws are a tad smaller in overall diameter, the nuts are recessed and I think there should be plenty enough mechanical connection. I'll also be adding a little blue Loctite for good measure.

The parts should be here in a couple days.

Appreciate you posting a pic of the result of your efforts if you could. Thanks.

I just finished installing the parts. I did not have to take the knife totally apart to do this. After taking the existing hardware off I dropped the new nuts into the recesses and put a piece of painters tape over them inside the handle. It made installing the new screws and clip pretty easy.

So... The long awaited day has arrived and... Drum roll... Success!!! Using the nut and screw specs from this thread I ordered what I needed from boltdepot.com, super cheap BTW, A Hinderer deep carry clip from mxggear.com (I didn't like how high the knife looks like it rode with the stock Hinderer clip pictured above).

(Make sure clip is the one that's flush on the bottom, not with the groove/flange thing needed to pop into a Hinderer) and PRESTO:

Next up, doing the same thing to my Infraction. I already bought longer screws in the same order. May have to file them down to get it exact but hey, I like the fit and finish much better than that janky little stock clip from Medford. Booyah!!! Problem solved, thanks BF 😁

I finally got the clips installed on both knives I had with the tiny clips I hated. I ended up going back to the Bolt Depot site and ordering the size screws initially recommended above for the slim MIDI, and then one screw size length longer, I don't know off the top of my head, but in their list it was just the next screw length up, which perfectly fit the Infraction. Also, trashed the first set of screws because it came in a really tiny Allen wrench size and ended up stripping out when I tried to get it tight. Reordered a whole set plus extras lengths just in case, which was like $6 tops with t8 torx heads. Amazing, tight fit. Check it:
