Aftermarket thumbstuds for the AR?

Is there anyone out there selling thumbstuds for the Strider AR?
The thumbstuds on mine are just too small, especially if I need to open it quickly.

I have seen the tritium thumbstuds on the TAD site, but it would seem that they do not sell those seperately. However, something about that size looks like it would work nicely.

Anyone?

Mick,

Thanks much for the quick reply on this.

Two questions right quick:

1) I have the small dual thumbstuds. Can I get the larger studs in the dual configuration?

2) Can I just buy the larger thumbstuds and install them myself? I just got my AR, and I am loathe to send it in at this point.

Thanks.

Mick,

I know you you feel about sending it back You're gonna miss it too much!

I'm gonna leave mine in it's original essence forever!!!:P

I just sent in my AR #068 for you to look at. Is it possible to get the bigger dual thumb studs put on mine while it's in the shop?

Do I need to call you about it to remind you?

Thanks,

S.

I'm not sure what kind of thumbstud you have, I have seen that the more recent models have a smaller stud.
Here is a photo of my AR, and I placed a hard plastic washer around the stud, it sits on there real tight and as you can see I chopped off a piece because it was hitting the top of the handle in the open position.
It just makes opening a little nicer :)
By the way, you guy's have created the ULTIMATE folder !! (Until your next creation)
Donald.
Try this idea, or a variation. Works great :)

nowhere fast,

Oh yes, that looks to be a great idea you have hit upon there. However, the thumbstuds on my AR are the newer, smaller, ones, and I don't think they will hold a washer very well, due to the rounded design.

I tell you, these small thumbstuds are pretty crazy looking. Kinda like a small penis on a big huge bodybuilder or something..that's what they remind me of...not speaking from experience mind you, just the general idea...way out of proportion, and they look extra puny on that big blade.

I'll have to email strider to see if they will sell me the older, larger, thumbstuds, so I can install them myself. I would feel pretty ridiculous sending my AR in just to have some standard thumbstuds installed.

So far since having my AR for 1 week now I do find the studs a bit small
I am waiting for the Tritium night ones though!!!!!

TAD RULES!

Is TAD selling just the tritium studs to add to the AR, or is that more like wishful thinking???

I think the tritium studs will come with a new AR.

When I got my AR I put an O-ring on the AR stud and it seemed to work out well.

I needed some work done on my AR so I sent it in to Strider (Ohhh how I miss my AR!!!) and asked if I could have the larger studs put on while it was in the shop.

I like the current issue AR thumbstud the way it is. It's a nice mix between a medeival battle weapon and a modern military knife.
