Hello all,

I just posted this in the reviews section and realized I was not in the custom forum:confused: DUH.

Hello all,

Are there any companies that can put tiger stripes, like the ones that Strider uses, on a knife? I am going to eventually be purchasing a Wally Hayes Tac-1 and I really like the look of the tiger stripes and think it would look great on this knife. If you do know of any companies, what are the prices, turn around time, etc.? Any links would be greately appreciated. Thanks.

Get your blades back from HT, mask off stripe pattern and bead blast entire blade. Peel off tape and voila! You got tiger stripes :)

Bodycote DiamondBlack can put on tiger stripes with boron carbide and gold TiN, but its a more costly and longer process. Darrell Lewis, who frequents BF, works for Bodycote and can get into specifics.

Either way, most of the work involves prepping the blade (masking off the stripe pattern)

At the Blade Show in Atlanta next spring Rob Simonich and Strider Knives will have some excellent examples of tiger striped knives, drop by and check them out....and at the same time you can check out Dexter's new tiger stripes that will probably wear off in a few days!! :p:):p:):p

For my own safety, I have been whisked off to an "undisclosed location" just in case the Strider guys and Simonich are lookin' to "take someone out" :D

I probably could become what the infamous masked magician was to magic - revealing secrets. Now Tom, you don't want folks to know that the TNT handles are blanked on a turret punch press do ya? :p :D

LOL

You have an open invitation to come visit me in Waialua and see how it is done.........the old fashioned way!!
:p

:)
:p

PS-keep lifting those weights! :(

Hey Louis, I did this to the first fixed blade I made by painting the blade with acid in a very slipshod fashion :)

Dexter, I think the stripes will come off with Turpentine and a wire brush. It takes a while though! :D

Mayo, counting the days to Blade 2002! :)
