aftermarket tritium?

The only easily obtainable source I've seen is in Fishing shops, I found one selling small capsules of tritium (10mm x 3mm) for use as lures and bite indicators. Still far too big for watches though.

ah... maybe fishing shops in England, but I've never seen any in the US. Closest think I can think of... there is a manufacturer of night sights... I think MMC? maybe another one... that will replace a broken night sight for you. Perhaps you can get one from them? It's next to impossible to get them in the US, legally anyhow. I'd love to add a vial to the button on my auto, still have yet to find a source.

I wonder if those radiation detectors installed here in the New York subways would detect tritium in watches.

We have a Geiger counter at the ambulance service I work for, and I've held it up against my Luminox with no detection. Now I need to test my Glowrings to see about them.

Tritium emits only beta radiation and beta radiation can't penetrate the glass capsule, so a Geiger counter can't detect it.

The hazards are in manufacture and eventual disposal. There's also a political issue for those of us who live in the US -- it's not made in the US so it's relatively easy for our government to restrict.

I don't know of a company redoing tritium dials. You can have it repainted with Luminova....

The watch I have already has Superluminova on it and it doesn't show up bright enough in the dark.

Are you Flint Bogus at www.timezone.com ?

If not -- he asked the same question there today and was told (by someone who knows more than I) "Many watchmakers could handle this for you."
