My XM-18 has great action. But, I also know that if you tightened teflon washer they compress and stick. I'm wondering if I wanted to tighten my pivot without losing any action, would third party phosphor bronze washers would be a good alternative? Anybody have any experience with doing that?

I bought a XM-18 from the exchange here a few months ago that came with the pb washers installed. Even after making some minor adjustments to the pivot, I really couldn't tell much difference in the smoothness or speed of the action between it & my four other Hinderers with the stock washers. As they say, though. Your mileage may vary.

Hinderers are very well made knives. I understand PB washers sound better, but I can't imagine that Hinderer would make such nice, stout knives and then put bad washers in them.

That said, replacing the washers are easy enough to do if you are inclined.
