AG Ringer Skinner

Its a pretty new product, Homer49, so possibly not many people (including myself) have one yet.

However, they do look handy and they are designed by AG Russell, a fellow BladeForums member.

If his name's on it....its a good product. If it isn't, you can find him around here and tell him why you think it isn't. He'll listen!

I don't have one of those new skinners, I belive they're made by CRKT. I do have a utility HAK & can say that it's a useful knife.

The HAK's going to be tailor made to you, making it a better fit than the CRKT. The steel, even on the utility model, is better IMHO. It's American 440C & I "think" it's Bos heat treated, but I could be wrong.

Of course the wait & price of either is quite different. It took me only 2 weeks to get my utility HAK, but I hear there "might" be problems, but then supposedly someone's taken over the operations & has improved it considerable (I don't know that personally, just have read & heard that). I do think a utility HAK, sized for you, is still a good deal for about $75 shipped.

Of course you can get the Ringer right away, & its around $20+ to $30 shipped, depending on where you get it.

Good luck on your choice.

I like the ringer skinner but i'd be curious about the steel used by crkt, at one time they were downgrading the steels used in their knives. but really for the price try it and see how it does. it definitely won't be in the same class as a hak as the price points are pretty far apart. let us know, ahgar

Cabelas said its $3 for a pack of 5 Rhino blades. It comes with 6 in the knife.

I picked mine up at sportsmans warehouse

I've decided to pick up an AG Ringer knife afterall instead of a Utility Hak in the meantime. But instead of the Skinner model, I'm going to get the Hawk blade one.

I think the angle of the blade with the finger holes of the Skinner model might make it too awkward to use. The Hawk blade makes more sense. Thanks for the input guys.
