What's the consensus on the AG Russel traditional line?

I've never seen one in person, but online they seem to be of higher quality than most of the Rough Riders I've handled. Which I'd expect given the price difference.

I'd appreciate any feedback as I'm considering a few of their models.

Thanks,

Bryce

I've only one, AG's bone stag barlow. It's a nice knife. He carries some beautiful knives that I would love to have.

I think it depends on the manufacturer. Some ag russel are made by canal street afaik, those are a very high quality.

I've never had a knife from A. G. Russell that I wasn't happy with.
The reports I see here in the Trad forum, on his traditional line, are all positive and A.G. has a return policy that is as good as it gets.
I wouldn't hesitate.

Its my understanding that Russel stands behind everything they sell, whether they made it or not. I am chomping at the bit to buy something in their War Eagle brand... I've heard they are A+ quality knives at a reasonable price.

AG Russell Knives are superbly built. High value for the cost. I have owned a half dozen or more and never had any issues with any of these. Rough Riders are OK, no complaints here, But AG knives are at a whole another level of higher craftsmanship.

AG Russell knives, even the Chinese ones, are in my experience, nearly custom/hand made in their quality and fit and finish.

Very good. Thanks for the feedback guys. It's the Chinese ones I've been looking at. Interesting designs and I actually like 8cr13mov for blade steel.

This is why I stay away from the traditional forum though. Every time I make a trip over here, even just a look, it costs me money.

I too have the barrel of AG Russells war eagle brand pointed directly at my head. Mainly heard good things about the whole operation so keen to investigate with a purchase. I think it'll be my last one for a while.
Not enough GECs becoming available and my only real problem is as soon as one I want comes available to me its a bout 5 milliseconds after SWMBO has said -don't spend any money on knives for a while!
The excuse based around pounce or miss out is losing ground.:(

I've seen the whole line at his store. The Chinese ones are as good as one would expect. At the price he sells them, it's no skin off his nose to replace or refund your money if it's not to your liking, so buy with confidence. If you want something a little cheaper check out the seconds page on his site. His best ones are the AGRussell's japanese made traditionals, which are very good and they don't take a back seat to GEC. They often made by Moki and come in premium stainless steel as well.
