I just bought an AG Russell folding hunter that looks pretty much like the Remington single blade bullet style of knife, blade marked 1823, 3 centuries, 2001, Texas Rangers, red/brown jigged bone, Ranger star for a shield, USA made lockback. I think it is the same knife as AG Russell's current yellow handled folding hunter except with a blade etch and bone scales and the shield. Can anyone give me any information on this knife? It is basically unused. I seem to recall that the blades were 154CM, can anyone confirm this? What about value? I paid $50.00 so I figure that I'm not hurt much if it ends up that it is only a user knife and without collectibility value.

I seem to recall there were two versions, one had the wrong year marked on the blade. That one may have some collector's value - I'll have to look at the old catalogs when I get home to see if you have that one or not. Either way they went for a lot more than $50 when they were first out.

OK, I dug out an old 2002 catalog... The first 460 of them had the incorrect date, marked 1826, so you have one of the later 540 knives (there were a total of 1000 made). You are correct, the blade is 154CM. The knives retailed for $124.95 in winter of 2002 so you got a great deal. That looks like a good knife, I hope you decide to carry and use it! :D

Thanks for all the info. Yes, I'll probably carry it at times. My EDC knife is a Stag scaled AG Russell CM-10 lockback that I was advised to put away as a collectible. I figured it was made to be used.

Thanks again
