Has anyone gotten their AG Russell Acies, yet? I am trying to decide between the Acies and the Umnumzaan (I am leaning towards the Umnumzaan), but wanted to get some first hand reports before I made any decisions.

I did notice there was already one on the Exchange for sale. I guess someone did not like the knife.

They've just recently started shipping. I imagine people will have short reviews or first impressions within the next week or two.

Hi Adamar -

I ordered mine Monday and received a confirmation email, but no notice of shipment yet.

The web site shows them in stock.

No big deal, I don't get too crazy waiting for stuff, I am sure I was not first in line.

Im anxious to hear abou tthis one.. I wanted a Seb something fierce, but after handling one, something about it just didnt 100% do it for me.. Im willing to spend $400 on a knife, but not a knife that I dont fall in love with immediately. Maybe this one will do it for me. We need a passaround on this one. Wonder if AG would be willing to do one?.......wishful thinking....

I'd be careful about making that assumption...I've had to sell dang near every knife I had worth more than $100, and a few that weren't. Even my favorite Busse HH is gone:grumpy: Just 'cause it's for sale doesn't mean they didn't like it, just that times are tough. I'd never part with another knife if I was made of money:D

Tell me about it. I might have to liquidate all my knives, not that I have many.

Hi folks -

I got my Acies today!

It is sweet! I'll take some pictures later this evening and post them up!

He said he was selling it because he got laid off this week.

If someone did not like the knife, they probably would have returned it. I had to put mine on the exchange because I did not buy mine. And yes, IMHO it is a great knife, 1/8 thick ti lock on a 1/8 thick blade = Crazy lockup, yet not a thumb buster to unlock. The stop pin is huge, the blade is razor sharp. The pocket clip is a bit weird looking, but it fits my hand better than any other I've felt, due to it's short length, and weird shape. (you would have to feel it to see, I can't quite explain it.) And it would completely disappear in your pocket, as it rides about 1/16 over the frame. If you like Ti framelocks, and high speed steels, you just might like this knife.

Can one of you guys that have a Lg Sebbie post a pic of this next to the lg Sebbie comparing thickness? I had $$ in hand to buy a lg Sebbie, but it was just too thin..

The Sebenza is thicker overall. Sebenza has a blade @ .125" and side plates at .150". Acies is a .125" blade and .125" sideplates.

bodydamage, you may want to look at one of the wood or micarta inlaid Sebenza's as the inlay gives it a little more thickness. That is why I like the inlasd models so much over the regular models.

Hi bodydamage -

They are made by Kershaw for A.G. Russell. As soon as I heard that I ordered one!

He said he was selling it because he got laid off this week.

Actually, he posted that he got laid off after my posting, but it is still kind of strange. AG Russell has a great return policy, and he could have gotten all his money back, but instead he sold it and took a loss of at least $50. Oh, well?

Hi Adamar -

Not that it matters why he was selling it - he did not buy it, he won the knife in a contest the A.G. posted here to name the knife.

Therefor, I guess he could not just return it for a refund, and he opted to convert the knife he won into cash he needs.

I did not buy mine. I named the knife, so I received it for free. It would be pretty sleazy of me to try to return a free knife, don't you think?

So since I bought the knife from samhain73 does that mean I can return it to AG if I don't like it.

I haven't gotten it yet but I do like the overall design and I still think its quite a bit overpriced but I guess its time to wait and see.

I think you have to purchase directly from AG Russell to be able to take advantage if their warranty. I returned a knife, but they had all my info from when I purchased the knife. Go to the AG Russell website and read about their warranty. It should answer your question.

I was being sarcastic, I wouldn't expect him to refund me money that I payed someone else that got his knife for free. That being said I would expect a standard defects warranty to be honored regardless of where the knife was purchased from. Certainly nothing in the FAQ would indicate that warranties are only for the original owner.
