Do any of you guys have one of these if so I would like to hear your thoughts about it. They list the knife at 3.6 ounces on the website which is heavy for a knife 3.5" long. How well do these knives carry in the pocket are they thicker than a normal trapper. What makes them so much heavier than a normal mini trapper which usually weighs about 2.5 ounces. Thank in advance for your thoughts

I love mine. It is short but stout, so it feels like a more substantial knife than its closed length would imply. And I must say, the unique geometry of the spey blade is my favorite of any trapper out there, bar none. Definitely a knife in my top five production models ever and it gets lots of carry time.

Thanks Comoha, I have been wanting one for awhile. Are they much thicker than other trappers?

I shouldn't have opened this thread, because I've had my eye on one of those since I've been getting AG's catalog :D

His traditional knives are heavier because he wants the liners and locks to be substantial and reliable. He has modern looking non traditional knives that go toward the goal of light, substantial and reliable.

I have one in cocobolo. Fantastic fit and finish. The pull is nice, on the light side but I don't worry about it closing on me. Beautifully executed hollow ground vg10 blades. Mine is flush in all 3 positions. Mine was also a 2nd, like most I am not sure why.

Does nobody post pictures anymore?! Us illiterates need something to look at ;)

Sorry, I have no top view pics showing thickness. I would say by memory: yes they are a tad thicker than your basic trapper.
Conventional trapper like the large Case model are pretty hard to pocket in dress pants or out on the town being so long, but this dogleg
allows you to have a "man" knife in your pocket without everyone seeing it.

Fit and finish on this one is excellent, though I must admit that I found the spine of the skinner to be a bit sharp for my tastes, biting in a bit with the clip open, but that was an easy fix...

Thanks for the pictures they help alot.

I'll say that the stag on mine flares out significently past the bolsters and really increases the thickness of the trapper when compared to the flush laying pearl covers shown just above.
Something to think about when choosing a handle if that matters to you.

That is a good point. I don't like knives that are real thick, so i will probably go with the wood handle one.

that's a very nice looking knife, especially the secondary blade. are the shields on them pinned or inlaid?

Ahhhh! Now I'm putting one on my 'wanted' list, darn you guys! That's another one to save for, especially since I like the Leopardwood handled one which of course is a premium but looks oh so sweet.
